What is CPD?

What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development is the means by which individuals in our regulated community maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills. It is essential that legal practitioners sustain and enhance their knowledge and skills so that their clients, the legal profession, and the wider public can be assured of their ongoing competency.

We have a compulsory CPD scheme. This helps to maintain the integrity of the profession and to protect the public. It is a requirement of the Code of Conduct that individuals who are required to carry out CPD, do so.

Our definition of CPD

‘To maintain, improve and extend the skills and qualities necessary for the proper performance of professional and legal duties and compliance required by CILEx Regulation, so as to ensure confidence in the professionalism and competence of the community regulated by CILEx Regulation.’
