Visits

Will I need a visit to my practice before I can become regulated?

Ans: If an application from an Applicant Body can be authorised without the need for a risk review visit then this will be done. However, there may be circumstances when we insist upon a visit as part of our authorisation process. All visits will be at an additional cost to the application fee and details will be provided by CILEx Regulation at the time of first contact. See the Fees section of the website.

Can I ask for a visit to help with my application for entity regulation?

Ans: You will also be able to request a visit as part of the application process. The benefits of such a visit will include:

  • assistance with formulating or improving business and compliance plans to meet your responsibilities for monitoring compliance and reducing risk; and
  • advice on compliance with CILEx Regulation Rules and good practice in risk management.
All visits will be at an additional cost to the application fee and details will be provided by CILEx Regulation at the time of first contact. See the Fees section of the website.

Why might you insist upon a visit and will I have to pay for it?

Ans: There will be instances when we decide that there is a need for a risk review visit at the outset as part of the engagement process to review risk management procedures. This would apply in circumstances such as historic disciplinary issues or if operating in an area of established risk or we need to explore information you have provided.

The visit would enable us to better understand the risks of authorising your entity as well as the processes and procedures you have in place to manage risk.

All visits will be at an additional cost to the application fee and details will be provided by CILEx Regulation at the time of first contact. We believe that the fees charged to individual  members should reflect the risks of regulation of their own specific business and therefore where additional work is required to authorise an entity, we believe the that applicant should pay for this. See the Fees section of the website.

Can I have a visit even if I don’t want to be regulated?

Ans: The Benchmark visit programme has now been completed and we will unfortunately only be able to visit those applicants considering submitting an application. All visits will be at an additional cost to the application fee and details will be provided by CILEx Regulation at the time of first contact. See the Fees section of the website.
