Qualification as a CILEx Conveyancing Practitioner
We have a qualification scheme for you to become a CILEx Conveyancing Practitioner.
You can qualify to become a CILEx Conveyancing Practitioner if you can demonstrate your competence in conveyancing work. The qualification scheme enables you to provide conveyancing services through a regulated entity. The application for the rights is not linked to any grade of CILEx membership. Therefore, you do not have to be a CILEx member to make an application. If you are a CILEx member, you may make an application whatever your grade of membership.
The application process
There is an application form that you must complete. We have also published a Conveyancing Practice Rights Handbook and rules to help you complete the form. The application form has been designed to enable you to demonstrate your competence in conveyancing in terms of:
You must provide conveyancing services through a regulated entity. We are a regulator of entities. If you want to seek regulation of your entity by us you must also demonstrate competence in practice management and accounts. See our Applying to be Regulated page for more details.
- Knowledge in conveyancing practice and in land law.
- Skills in client care, legal research and conveyancing.
- Experience in conveyancing.
All applicants for independent Practice Rights are required to complete a new Standard DBS check for CILEx Regulation. Further details for obtaining the check can be found here.
The non-refundable fee for this application is £450.
